KIWI RIDER 11 2019 VOL1 | Page 32

Wainui’ hill road every day, I was told that if I got 8000km out of any new set of tyres going over the hill every day then I was doing well. So I see it as a positive sign that the Michelin Road 5s, although the softer compound shoulders are showing signs of wear, still have plenty of life left in them. But, also, I can’t help but feel a little sad, that these brilliant tyres will soon need to be replaced. BOTTOM LINE So, should you get a set of Michelin R5s for your steed? If you don’t live in Wainuiomata, or another such township with a winding off- 32 KIWI RIDER camber road to ride every day, I can highly recommend them. If you do, however, live in a part of NZ known for its twisty roads... Oh, who am I kidding?! Do yourself a favour, chuck on a set of R5s – you can thank me later.
