MOONSHINE A
HIT FOR ENDURO
AND VINDURO
ast month, on September 22, riders
were treated to a glorious day in
the hills above Wellington for the
penultimate round of the Macauley Metals
Central Enduro Series.
Cambridge’s Dylan Yearbury took the top
honours on a day which featured gravel
roads, bush single track and a long, freshly
cut bush downhill. Seth Reardon again
played second fiddle, while Wainuiomata’s
whiz kid, Jake Whitaker, took third. Jake
was clearly saving his energy for the
Sunday – but more on that later.
In the A-Class it was local lad Kevin
Birdsdall who took the top spot over
Auckland’s Jeff Van Hout and Featherston’s
Zac Chandler.
The Moonshine event also served as the
first round of the Vinduro championship.
The range of bikes at the event ranged
from old Triumphs through to the
much more modern Yamaha WR250.
The camaraderie and grit shown by the
Vinduro riders was outstanding. Some
of the riders even chose to ride the long
downhill section – not something to be
taken lightly if you’ve ever ridden with
drum brakes.
