RIDING
The new YZ85 looks neat, and real trick with
the blue rims. Before I went out for a ride
I had to get the levers, gear lever and back
brake set to how I like them. The bars are
position adjustable but they were in a good
position for me and I didn't need to move
them at all.
After a few laps I felt it was stiff in the rear
suspension and skipping out, and the forks
were diving a lot when I was braking for the
corners. So Dad checked the rider sag and
found it was at 90mm, which is too hard for
me. Dad set it to 110mm, the same as I run
my KTM. This lowered the rear end heaps,

which made it way more settled to ride.
I found the throttle really easy/light to twist
which is easier than on my KTM, and the YZ is
easier to turn than my bike. I really like how
positive it feels in the corners. The more I rode
the YZ85, the more I liked it.
I'd say the power isn't as good as mine at
the bottom end but that's because my bike is
geared down. There's definitely heaps of top
end, which I really liked. Overall I think the
YZ85 is a really good bike straight out of the
box, which is how I rode it. It'll race motocross
well but I think it'll also do trail rides well too.
