DAILY DRIVER
Looks, finish, quality of componentry, and
power delivery-wise, this is a big step forward
for our scoot market. It’s a real contender
for serious use as a daily driver. And it is so
endearingly quirky, I think it would be the
bike of choice for every rider in my family,
whether a zippy trip to the shops, or cafe.
The charger is small enough to fit under
the seat and still leave room for shopping,
but alas, not helmet storage. The battery
also has a switch that can be turned off
for long storage, or even used as another
security measure. Replacing the battery when
charged, as indicated by a solid green light, is
a moments work.
Charging is achieved by plugging the
106 KIWI RIDER
supplied cable into the handy covered socket
below the seat and for security the battery
is removable. Raise the seat, move a white
lever, lift the battery box lid, an anticlockwise
twist and light tug to the battery connector,
and lift out is accomplished cleanly and easily
in seconds.
So, it works very well indeed, looks a million
bucks, and uses some solid German Bosch
technology at the rear wheel, is simplicity
itself to use and cheaper than a Matchbox
toy to run. So, why wouldn’t you? I simply
cannot think of a single reason not to, but
more than that, it is absolutely charming.
The multifarious manufacturer has achieved
something really special with the Veracruz.
And weirdly I love the name, too. I found
myself smiling whenever I rode it. Brilliant.
