The power delivery is very linear and totally
step free in progression – very rider friendly.
Below 4000rpm it’s quite mellow, but there’s
still plenty of effortless ‘waft’. From there
upwards the waft just snowballs in urgency
until it achieves full über-juggernaut status!
It doesn’t have the ultra-smooth low to mid
rpm waft of the Goldwing, but it does have
significantly more up top, while the Moto
Guzzi is a low revving surge of huge thrust
kinda machine. As you might expect, technology plays
a huge part in the BMW’s arsenal. There
are three power modes (Rain, Road and
Dynamic), cruise control, ABS Pro, DTC
(dynamic traction control), Dynamic
ESA (electronic suspension adjustment),
heated seats, HSC Pro (Hill Start Control),
LED trail light, multifunction display, on
board computer, stepless electric screen
adjustment, 12v power socket, Xenon
headlights with automatic self-levelling and
‘around the corner viewing’ and even an
