HUSQVARNA EE 5 FOR GROMS IS ELECTRIC I t’s been on the horizon for some time now, and finally Husqvarna’s pint-sized electric ripper the EE 5 has been released to the public… at least overseas, we’ll be waiting a little while yet. The EE 5 (and its KTM cousin) are likely to arrive on our shores at the end of the year at the earliest, with pricing and exact dates of availability yet to be announced by KTM New Zealand. Husqvarna says the electric Minicycle continues the brand’s pioneering motocross journey and delivers a complete and fully adaptable, five- kilowatt competition machine to youngsters keen on getting out in the dirt. Designed to rival any 50cc fuel-powered motorcycle, the quick-charging EE 5 combines high-quality componentry with bodywork specifically designed to give young riders an ergonomically effortless, all-electric riding experience. Like most bikes to roll out of the factory, the EE 5 scores the latest suspension technology, with 35mm WP XACT forks offering 205mm of travel and combined with a fully-adjustable WP rear shock. A high-strength chromoly frame, hydraulically operated brakes, lightweight wheels, tapered NEKEN handlebars and striking graphics complete the bright new spark in the Husqvarna lineup. Possibly the best part of the EE 5, however, is the ability to adjust the ride height to keep pace with an improving or growing rider. Delivering two hours of riding enjoyment for beginners and 25 minutes for serious racers thanks to three different riding settings, the EE 5 can be fully charged via the supplied charger in just 70 minutes. That’s pretty much a long lunch or enough time to watch a few instructional videos on YouTube before hitting the dirt again. We can’t wait to see what Kiwi riders do when the bike finally does make its way down here! KIWI RIDER 17
