Fieldays is the biggest farming event in
the southern hemisphere, with a surprising
number of motorcycles on display too.
Never been to Fieldays? It’s
a smorgasbord of anything
and everything that’s related
to farming – New Zealand’s
backbone. That includes
motorcycles, most farmers have
ridden, or still ride, a dirt bike,
and run quads and side-by-sides
on their properties, which are
catered to by many of the major
motorcycle importers. Having
a huge shop window like this
means anyone who makes farm
vehicles will be there.
You could easily spend a day
just on the motorcycle stands
– in fact, that’s exactly what we
did. With importers showing off
their latest models, there was
a heap of bikes to sit on, and it
seems the draw to leap aboard
and twist the throttle is just as
strong for both young and old
alike. If you didn’t make it there
this year, it’s worth heading to
Hamilton for next year. This is
some of what you missed...
