FANCY CUBA ON A HARLEY?
Britton Adventures went to Cuba for a tour with some adventurous Kiwis
and found themselves to be the entertainment for the locals...
I
t was like being part of a parade, or in an en-
tourage of famous people; as our group of 12
late-model Harley Davidsons rumbled through
small towns and villages in Cuba, the locals
lined the streets videoing and photographing
us. Smart phones are more common than you’d
think in Cuba, but with no network data and limited
access to Wi-Fi they are mostly used as cameras.
Our group of Harley’s turned heads everywhere we
went in Cuba due to their noise and novelty factor.
The vast majority of tourists to Cuba travel around
by bus, with smaller groups getting about in vans.
Hire cars are available, though not in abundance
which makes them hard to book, and they have a
reputation of unreliability. Private hire of motor-
cycles, other than 50cc scooters in tourist areas,
