over the counter.”
As a concept, the Vespa Auckland shop is
definitely on the front line of the new way of
thinking around attracting customers into
dealerships. No longer is having a stock of bikes
enough, with the customer experience part of
the core thinking behind how the new dealership
has been created.
When it comes to servicing Auckland Vespa still
retains the previous workshop space in College
Hill Road’s Motomail store.
“It’s the real deal, you know?” McGrane
continues, “The people who were really into it
were super passionate, and our dealership’s
gorgeous. Our concept of what we’re trying to
offer people is pretty unique and we’re not just
in this for the money when the money helps us
to live, living is about this brand and it might
sound corny, but it’s true.”
“We’ve built this project because we wanted it
to exist, and it didn’t exist in New Zealand and it
doesn’t a few places but it’s not hard to get right
if you sell in the real deal.”

DUCATI RESTARTS PRODUCTION
D
ucati has announced it is restarting its
Borgio Panigale factory after the company
effectively shut down in March due to the
Covid-19 pandemic.
In order to combat and contain the spread of
the Covid-19 virus as per Italian official directives,
Ducati temporarily suspended production in
its Bologna plant on March 13 to reorganise
production schedules. While the initial plan
was only for a short stoppage to production,
then came the decree that suspended all non-
essential activities and therefore, despite Ducati
being ready, production did not restart.
With gradual improvement in health
conditions, Italy has finally announced that
companies like Ducati are able to return to
work to enable companies deemed strategic
for the national economy.
Ducati says the company will slowly phase back
into full production. That means only workshop
staff will begin first, then engine assembly
workers and, from April 28, motorcycle
assembly workers.
As for employees, the use of smart working
will remain mandatory, only those who are
not in a position to carry out their work from
home will be allowed to access the factory.
