TRIUMPH ROCKET III TFC
Two and a half litres of displacement. Just let
that sink in a little while...
Triumph Motorcycles, already holders of
the “world’s largest capacity production
motorcycle engine” crown with the original
Hinkley Rocket III, has gone even bigger with
the next generation bike with a full 2458cc of
inline-triple grunt.
Now also taking the title of the most powerful
Triumph engine ever with “over 170hp and
over 221Nm of torque”. Why Triumph isn’t
releasing more concrete figures is a mystery,
but with the new bike tipping the scales a full
40 kilos lighter than the outgoing bike the
Rocket III TFC is definitely going to live up to
the Rocket name.
In addition to the weight saving, the Rocket
III TFC also scores top-level equipment, with
top tier Brembo Stylema® calipers, high
specification adjustable 47mm upside down
Showa cartridge forks and fully adjustable
Showa monoshock with piggy back reservoir.
The premium specification continues with a
84 KIWI RIDER
Brembo radial master cylinder and MCS span
and ratio adjustable brake lever plus matching
clutch lever.
As Triumph’s most exclusive motorcycle
(for now), the Rocket III TFC sports premium
TFC badging with gold detailing and a
beautiful, individually-numbered, plaque on
the instrument mount to denote the unique
nature of each individual bike.
The one-off special parts don’t end there, with
each Rocket TFC owner to receive a special
tailor-made TFC handover pack dedicated to
their bike, featuring a numbered letter signed
by Triumph’s CEO Nick Bloor, a personalised
custom build book, leather TFC branded
rucksack and a Rocket III TFC indoor cover.
As yet, Triumph Motorcycles New Zealand
have no word on how many of the 750 bikes
will find their way here, but with Kiwis having
an uncanny ability to punch above our weight
in terms of acquiring rare motorcycles, we
wouldn’t count against at least a couple of
examples arriving on our shores.
