BRIT BECOMES YOUNGEST RIDER
TO LAP THE WORLD
British rider Henry Crew has become the
youngest rider to circumnavigate the world
by motorcycle this month, after a year on the
road riding his Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled
in support of the Movember Foundation.
Crew set off on his journey last year from
The Bike Shed in London on April 3, arriving
back this year on April 19 to claim the
Guinness World Record.
The trip saw Crew pass through Europe,
the Far East, Australia and the Americas in
a bid to raise awareness for the Movember
foundation – the charitable organisation
which every year raises funds to help
22 KIWI RIDER
combat men’s health issues on a global
scale with the growth (and then shaving) of
moustaches.
In order to claim the record, Crew needed
to return to the UK before the May 10, doing
so with three weeks to spare.
“I never set out to inspire people, Crew
commented, “I wanted to do it for purely
selfish reasons: I wanted to ride a motorbike
around the world. But I’ve had some
amazing conversations about travel, amazing
conversations about motorcycles, and
amazing conversations about mental health.”
