What’s new with the 2020 Suzuki RM-Z250?
I’m asked this a lot. It’s actually more than you
think. But instead of a complete overhaul,
the second year of this current generation
received some updates – as expected from
one of the original ‘dragons’ – that are
still significant enough to align it with the
competition in the showroom and on the
track, but nothing dramatically different
from the RM-Z250L9.
These updates are a positive for racers who
want some of that ‘Yellow Magic’, especially
at a national level, because ‘all-new’ can also
means hours, day, weeks – and sometimes
months – of testing, just to get the bike to
a place that’s familiar enough for the new
season. That means time and money, two
things everyday Kiwis don’t have all that
much to spare, whether you’re a Pro or a Joe.
The Suzuki MX-Tuner 2.0 Wifi App is one of
the new updates, and is one that actually
makes tuning and personalising your RM-Z
even easier. Those racers who obsess over
every detail can now easily change the
settings of the ECU, to make custom maps
that work best for them on a particular track.
The WiGET app has preinstalled settings
to get the most out of the RM-Z, meaning
‘weekend warriors’ don’t need to worry about
what’s going to work best.
