DUNLOP TAKES TO THE PEAK Isle of Man TT racer Michael Dunlop is turning his sights to the sky with the announcement that the 18-time TT winner will be taking on the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb later this year. “I can now confirm that I will be taking part in the 2019 race through the clouds Pikes Peak”, Dunlop posted to his Facebook page. “This event will involve 156 turns over a 12 mile (19.99km) run over the cliff edges and mountains tops into over 14000ft height. I am thrilled to be taking part and the whole MD team are super excited to go and take part in the event. I will be releasing details on the bike and team members in the coming weeks.” The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb first ran in 1916 and was predominantly a gravel race up until 2011 when the final sections of gravel were paved over. The current motorcycle record for the 19.99km hill climb is held by Chris Fillmore who rode a KTM 1290 Super Duke R to a time of 9:49.625.
