Considering the humble 8.8kW of

Powering the V200 is a 169cc air-cooled
four-stroke SYM engine so I’ve got a sneaking
suspicion it’s bound to prove reliable over
time. Gearing is CVT and it all works very
smoothly from the get go. Considering
the humble 8.8kW of power the scoot gets
up to speed pretty well and is a breeze to
ride around town for commuting duties,
it’s comfortable in 80km/h zones too but
struggles to reach and maintain 100km/h,
especially if there’s a bit of a headwind and
steeper hills thrown into the mix. To my
mind, a slightly larger 200cc unit with 10kW
would have given the V200 that little bit more
oomph and enabled easy motorway work,
but I guess the majority of potential buyers
of the Lambretta will be looking at city-based
commuting duties and the V200 will do this
just great and in suitable style too.
