SVARTPILEN 701 LAUNCHES
Husqvarna’s long awaited Svartpilen
701 has finally begun to ship to global
Husqvarna dealers, with the flat track
inspired model set to hit the road here
later this year.
Based around the same chassis as the
Vitpilen 701, which arrived on our shores
last year, the Svartpilen 701 takes a
slightly different approach to the ‘Black
Arrow’ nameplate than its smaller 401
counterpart.
Instead of opting for the street Scrambler
look, the Svartpilen 701 takes its design
inspiration from the American Flat Track
scene which has recently become style of
choice for custom bike designers globally.
While the Svartpilen 701 shares the same
tank shrouds as the 401 (and Vitpilen
models), gone are the spoked wheels of
18 KIWI RIDER
the Svartpilen 401 in favour of alloy items.
The 692cc single-cylinder engine pumps
out a healthy 75hp and 72Nm of torque,
which is more than enough in the
lightweight chassis to cause a healthy grin
on your face based on our experiences
with the Vitpilen 701.
Husqvarna Australia and New Zealand has
confirmed the Svartpilen 701 will arrive
in New Zealand dealerships in the fourth
quarter of this year. While pricing is yet
to be announced we anticipate that the
Svartpilen 701 will follow a similar path to
the 401 model and be priced similarly to
the $18,299 of the Vitpilen 701.
