DIRT NEWS SHERCO TEAMS UP WITH MOTUL C ontinuing the theme of dirt manufacturers signing on with oil brands, this month Sherco announced they will officially be teaming up with Motul moving forward. The new partnership sees both Sherco and Motul team up for the first time, with Motul oils being used in all aspects of the French/Spanish manufacturers production and racing. That means that Motul oils will be not only used in competition, but also as the first fill and preferred service oil of Sherco. It’s a relationship built through the spirit of competition says Sherco’s managing director Thomas Teissier. “We have got to know Motul very well through our involvement in the Dakar and it was clear that our philosophy, our core values and approach was very alike, so they are a perfect partner for us on a wider scale, he says. “Motul’s quality, originality and racing- led development has proved itself over 160 years now and, for a relatively young company such as Sherco, this experience and wisdom is invaluable.” Established in 1998 and as a pure trials bike manufacturer, Sherco is one of the fastest-growing brands in the off-road segment of the motorcycle industry. With 39 models of enduro, cross-country, trial and 50cc motorcycles sold in more than 66 countries Sherco have a range up there with far more entrenched brands. They then approached Ryan Mason from KiwiSpan Waikato. “We wanted it to look good, and be welcoming, but we didn’t want it to be so 20 KIWI RIDER perfect that our clients would be worried if they had mud on their boots,” said Vicki. “It needed to look professional, but be down to earth.” From humble beginnings in 2006, NV Motorcycles now have nine full time and three part time staff members.
