Car Club held its Burma Rally during the
weekend and member Keith Turner and mates
put together the huge car display that took over
nearly four blocks of the inner city Victoria
Avenue. And it was here that I encountered a few
interesting motorcycles on display from both the
Whanganui VCC Branch and the Whanganui
Classic Motorcycle Club. Further up the street
some old bikes were found on the back of
vintage flat decks, creating huge interest from
the public and endless photos opportunities.
I managed to hear the first band, ‘The Ukulele
Orchestra’ while catching up with friends, walk
the streets looking at cars and bikes, get some
pics of the vintage tram and traction engine,
visit the steampunk pop-up emporium, and
take a ride on the vintage railcar. If I am in town
next year, it might be time to take a DC3 flight
and a short river cruise.
Come and join the fun next year – visit
